Daily yoga practice helps you stay healthy, more productive and happy all day. Yoga at home is one of the most beautiful and liberating aspect; because you don’t need any equipment or special set up for practice. Starting yoga at home is an exciting and enjoyable experience. But if you never done it before or you are new to doing yoga at home, you may need some tips before getting started.

- Set An Intention (goal):

First before start yoga at home; identify your goal or intention. Make a chart of asana and make sure it must be specific, realistic, achievable and reliable. Do not multi-tasking while practising. Try to reach to your desirable level step by step, never practising to hard pose; always start with basics.
- Choose The Right Location
I think creating a space at home for practicing yoga daily is the most important. Choosing a space with no distractions; keep away your cell phone, and extra gadgets during yoga. If possible use an area that is airy and ventilated. Remember, it may take a few weeks to months for build up new habit- so be patient but consistent.
- Be Consistent

It is very essential to be very regular in your yoga practice at home. Make it a part of your daily schedule and this will helps to turn into habit. If you want to be more flexible and stronger; at least 5-7 times per week for 40-60 minutes is required. Give commitment to your-self to never break the rule of morning yoga at home according to schedule; you will be more efficient when practicing on your own.
- Make Yoga Time As “ Family Fun”
When you practice alone it might get boring, especially at home, so try to doing yoga with your family or friends; and let it be perfect healthy gathering time with family. It adds health with fun in family.

Always start by getting touch with your breath, start with child’s pose or seated position; it works well.
- Warm up: warm up the spine and back with some gentle nice stretches in cat/cow and downward dog pose.
Sun salutation– personally I think without Surya Namskar your yoga warm up not completed, 12 different pose of Suryanamaskar itself is one complete workout; repeat 10 sets of it as warm up exercise.
- Time division: You can divide your 60 minutes workout as
15 minutes for warm up poses; 30 minutes of asanas; 15 minutes of cool down poses and 15 minutes for meditation or breathing practice.

Set the schedule of different forms of asana according to days in week, like one day for standing poses; next day for sitting poses; then for balancing poses than back; for abs; for upper body; lower body poses. practice a variety of yoga poses and breathing techniques. fix a set of asans to be done every day. keep in mind that you begin with step by step, be reasonable in your expectations. Better to slowly open your body to some restorative posture and then move forward.

- Breath– it is very essential to breathe right when practicing the asana. Concentrate on your breathing pattern; breath slow and deep, this is most important tip for yoga at home.
- Pranayama- your breath is as important as your postures. Pranayama helps in learning how to control and regularise your breathing like- kapalbhati, anulom-vilom, bhramri.
- Savasana- it’s important to close your practice with a moment to close your practice with a savasana. Even if you don’t have much time, it’s crucial to relax in savasana after yoga practice. This helps the nervous system to assimilate the benefits of the practice.
